Y401 / Y402 / Y403 Wireless I/O Modules Application Guide
The Y40 series Wireless I/O Modules are industrial devices for long-distance, low-power, cable-replacement control. They use a private LoRa link and support a planning range of up to 10 km in open areas, subject to model, antenna, installation, obstructions, interference, and site conditions. No SIM card, Internet connection, or LoRaWAN gateway is required for the basic link.
| Series | Architecture | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| Y401 | Point-to-point (A ↔ B) | Simple bidirectional control between two fixed points |
| Y402 | One-to-many (Master ↔ Slaves) | One central controller driving multiple remote points |
| Y403 | Mesh network (multi-node linkage) | Multi-point coordinated control with automatic relay extension |
Y401 / Y402 / Y403 models support passive dry-contact and NPN open-collector DI inputs, use SPDT relay outputs, operate on 9–36 VDC, and mount on 35 mm DIN rail. Do not apply voltage directly to DI terminals.

Key Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Long-range transmission | Up to 10 km in open areas as a model-, antenna-, and site-dependent planning value* |
| Module power | 9–36 VDC; see the selected model specification for consumption |
| Input and output | Passive dry-contact or NPN open-collector DI; isolated SPDT relay DO |
| Installation | 35 mm DIN rail mounting |
| Multi-node linkage | Y403 nodes can automatically forward signals and extend coverage |
* Confirm the selected model specification and perform a site survey before committing to a range. The wireless link is for auxiliary control and signalling, not the sole emergency-stop, personnel-safety, or hard-real-time path.
Core Application Patterns
| Application | Recommended relationship | Suitable family | Deployment intent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Access-control signal extension | Door, gate, or barrier contact to a remote relay | Y401 or Y402 | Replace a long contact cable between the access point and a remote controller or indicator. |
| Multi-point linkage alarm | Any alarm input to linked alarm outputs | Y403 | Coordinate auxiliary annunciation across distributed points; retain a certified independent life-safety path. |
| Remote wireless equipment control | Local switch or PLC contact to a distant load circuit | Y401, Y402, or Y403 | Drive a correctly rated relay or contactor for pumps, valves, lamps, or other field equipment. |
The module relay switches an external load circuit; it does not provide load voltage. High-power or inductive loads require a suitable contactor and surge suppression.
Typical Application Case: Smart Aquaculture

Project Background
A large South American white shrimp farm faced three major challenges:
- High labor costs and low efficiency from multiple daily manual inspections across many ponds.
- Large fluctuations in dissolved oxygen, pH, water temperature, and ammonia levels, leading to frequent stress, disease outbreaks, and high mortality.
- Inability to detect equipment failures (aerators, pumps, valves) or environmental anomalies in time, often resulting in major losses.
YenGear Solution
- Deployed Y403-11-L LoRa wireless linkage controllers to achieve one-button group control and multi-node linkage of aerators, water pumps, and valves across multiple ponds.
- Used Y201-L LoRa wireless transceivers for long-range data collection.
- Integrated water quality sensors and built a cloud platform for real-time App / PC remote monitoring and intelligent alerts.
Project Results
- Shrimp survival rate improved significantly and mortality losses reduced.
- Early warning for water quality abnormalities enabled timely intervention.
- Inspection frequency dropped sharply, achieving efficient remote unmanned management.
- Automatic linkage of aerators and pumps reduced energy consumption.
Customer feedback: "24/7 wireless monitoring and coordinated control with no blind spots—plug-and-play."
