Control devices

Control points send switch, motor, or other supported actions to field equipment. Operators, Managers, and Owners can operate within their permitted projects. Device support, connectivity, and plan status also affect available controls.

Operate a switch or motor

  1. Find the control point in the device Overview, or open its details.
  2. Check the point name and current state, then choose an action.
  3. Complete the interface prompts and wait for a status report.
  4. If the state does not change, check the command result, communication, and field actuator.
Point typeCommon actions
Switch, relay, or valveOn, off
Reversible motorForward, reverse, stop
Numeric display / display deviceEnter and set display content
Audible-visual alarmSelect and set an alarm level

The point type determines the controls, but the device must support the corresponding protocol. Setting an alarm device's level is separate from email and SMS notifications.

Understand command results

FeedbackWhat it shows
Command sentThe platform submitted the control request
Gateway acceptedThe gateway accepted this command
Point status updatedThe platform received a new state for that point

Use field feedback to verify whether a fan, pump, valve, or motor actually operated. Relay state does not replace flow, pressure, limit-switch, or motor-running feedback.

Control limits

Controls may be disabled when the device is offline, the point is disabled, data is unavailable, or permissions are insufficient. An expired plan pauses ordinary controls; off and stop actions remain subject to the account's permissions.

Field protection

Use hardware interlocks and limits for reversible motors, and keep local emergency-stop or power-disconnection measures. Cloud control does not replace these protections. Avoid repeatedly sending opposite actions in quick succession.

Use schedules for timed actions and automation rules for value or status conditions. For programmatic control, see the point API.
