1. Safety and scope

Y811 products provide auxiliary visual and audible warning. They are not a substitute for an emergency-stop circuit, a certified fire-alarm panel, a life-safety system, or a safety-rated control circuit.

Read the label and the model specification before wiring. Some configurations accept AC 220 V and DC power, while Y811-52V is listed for DC 12-24 V. Applying the wrong supply can damage the unit and create a fire or shock hazard.

Only qualified personnel may install AC 220 V configurations. Disconnect all power before opening the enclosure, changing wires, replacing audio files, or changing the mounting.

2. Model selection

Keep each public model tied to the configuration shown on the quotation, label, and production drawing. Do not use a sibling model's command map or connector definition.

3. Installation

3.1 Before wiring

1. Confirm the YenGear model and configuration.
2. Confirm the supply voltage and whether the ordered unit accepts DC, AC, or both.
3. Confirm the protection rating and mounting method.
4. Check that the power supply can support the alarm output.
5. Disconnect power before making any connection.

3.2 Power and trigger wiring

Connect power according to the label on the delivered unit. Observe positive and negative polarity on DC inputs. The catalog identifies three switch inputs on the Y811-52V three-color, Y811-75AV, and Y811-95AV configurations; the exact common terminal and active level remain configuration-specific unless the delivered drawing states them.

Do not connect an external voltage to a trigger terminal until the input electrical type has been confirmed. A product listing that says switch input does not by itself establish whether the input is a dry contact, a powered input, or an isolated input.

3.3 RS485 wiring

Use a twisted pair for A and B. Keep the bus away from motor cables, relay outputs, and high-frequency switching devices. Use a daisy-chain topology for multiple devices and assign a unique address to each device.

The supplied manuals identify the yellow conductor as A+ and the green conductor as B-. Wire colors can change between product variants; follow the label on the delivered cable.

3.4 RS232 wiring

Y811-95AV is listed with RS232 and RS485. The supplied catalog does not provide the RS232 level, connector, or pinout. Use the production drawing for the ordered unit. Do not connect an RS232 port to an RS485 bus.

4. RS485 commissioning

The supplied manuals provide the following Modbus RTU defaults for the three-color configurations:

The supplied manuals do not state a parity setting in the extracted specification. Confirm parity from the delivered configuration or protocol sheet before commissioning.

Recommended commissioning sequence:

1. Connect one alarm to a short RS485 test cable.
2. Use the default settings only if they match the delivered configuration.
3. Read the device status or issue one documented test command.
4. Confirm the light or sound response locally.
5. Change the device address if more than one unit will share the bus.
6. Add devices one at a time and test each address.
7. Record the final address, baud rate, model, and configuration in the site record.

For the Y811-52AV and Y811-95AV configurations, the catalog confirms communication but does not provide complete protocol defaults. Request the exact protocol sheet before sending commands.

5. Verified protocol functions

5.1 Y811-52V three-color configuration

The supplied manual documents:

• Function 06 for writing a control value
• Register 00C2 for direct light control
• Light modes for steady, slow flash, and rapid flash
• Color values for red, yellow, green, white, blue, cyan, purple, and off
• Register 0070 for querying the current light state
• Register 000B for changing the baud rate
• Register 00C0 for changing the device address

The command frame includes the device address, function code, register address, data value, and CRC16. Calculate CRC16 for the actual frame; do not copy a CRC value from an example after changing the address or data.

5.2 Y811-75AV three-color configuration

The supplied manual documents command groups for:

• Folder and file playback, function 0F
• Song playback, function 03
• Volume, function 06
• Baud rate, function 0B
• Folder loop playback, function 17
• Current-track loop playback, function 19
• Device address, register C0
• Playback and file status queries
• Light control through the light-state value in the documented command format

Use the three-color command values only for the three-color configuration. Confirm the seven-color command values before implementation.

5.3 Other Y811 configurations

The supplied catalog lists Modbus for the Y811-52AV configuration and RS485 / RS232 for the Y811-95AV configuration, but it does not include their complete command tables. Treat those models as protocol-pending until the exact register map and connector definition are supplied.

6. Audio file replacement

The supplied manual states that the alarm audio uses MP3 files with a bit rate of up to 192 kbps. It also documents USB replacement of the stored audio files. Power off the alarm before connecting it to a computer, disconnect the USB cable after replacement, and then power the unit again.

Do not replace audio on a Y811-52V visual-only configuration. For the Y811-52AV, Y811-95AV, and Y811-75AV seven-color configurations, confirm the delivered memory and file-replacement method before changing files.

7. Troubleshooting

• Reconfirm protection and power ratings after a housing or connector change.
• Keep the configuration beside the YenGear public model in the service record.
