Y401 / Y402 / Y403 Wireless I/O Module Selection Guide

Use this guide to select a Y401, Y402, or Y403 Wireless I/O Module by control relationship and I/O type. Digital Y401/Y402/Y403 models use a private LoRa link to carry passive dry-contact or NPN open-collector states to relay outputs. Y401-99-L is a 9DI/9DO DC-powered model; Y401-0011-L and Y401-0044-L are point-to-point analog models with no DI or DO channels. No SIM card, Internet connection, or LoRaWAN gateway is required for the basic link. Never apply voltage directly to a digital DI terminal.

All listed models use a standard planning range of up to 5 km in open areas. A 10 km range option is available for selected configurations with the specified antenna and installation conditions. Y401-99-L also supports fast communication up to 1 km. Treat every range as a planning value, not a guaranteed distance: model, antenna, mounting height, obstructions, interference, and local site conditions determine the usable range.

Model Naming

Y401 / Y402 / Y403 model naming

The format is Y40x-ABCD-L. This naming rule applies to Y401, Y402, and Y403.

Each count applies to both the input and output type on that side: 1 in a digital position means 1 DI and 1 DO. 0 means no channels of that type. Digital-only models use AB, with the trailing analog digits omitted.

For analog models, confirm the actual AI and AO channel counts in the dedicated specification. The Y401-0011-L hardware specification defines two AI and two AO channels per device.

Sender and receiver identify the two sides of the link; bidirectional devices can both send and receive. For Y402, these sides are the master and slave. Y403 uses equal-status nodes that automatically select a communication path and forward signals.

Y401 — Point-to-Point I/O Mirroring

Choose Y401 when two fixed locations need corresponding relay actions in both directions. A factory-paired Device A and Device B carry each channel state across the private LoRa link; the remote relay follows the input state.

These analog Y401 models have no DI or DO channels. Use their dedicated specifications for signal wiring, power, range, and the ordered signal configuration.

Common digital Y401 facts

  • Point-to-point and bidirectional; no controller, gateway, or software configuration is required for the matched pair.
  • Y401-11-L, Y401-22-L, Y401-44-L, and Y401-99-L use DC 9–36 V module power.
  • Digital inputs use passive dry contacts or NPN open-collector signals. Y401-99-L provides 9 DI and 9 relay output channels per module.
  • Relay ratings are model-specific. Y401-99-L is rated at AC 250 V / 5 A or DC 28 V / 5 A; use an external contactor for larger or inductive loads.

Y402 — One-to-Many I/O Mapping

Choose Y402 when one master location must exchange states with one or more slave locations. Master inputs distribute to the matching slave outputs, while slave inputs can return status to the master.

Common Y402 facts

  • Use one master with one or more factory-paired slaves; the system can be expanded within the product specification.
  • Select Y402-41-L when one 4-channel master must reach several one-channel remote points.
  • 9–36 VDC module supply and SPDT relay outputs; relay contacts do not supply load voltage.

Y403 — Auto Relay

Y403 is a single-model family: Y403-11-L. Choose it when a distributed site needs coordinated auxiliary outputs rather than a single master/slave relationship. Any node input can energize the linked node outputs, and the Auto Relay network can forward signals to extend the practical path.

Y403 is not a certified emergency-stop or personnel-safety system. Keep an independently certified safety path for those functions and validate multi-hop delay for any timing-sensitive control.
