1. Overview

The Y331 analog input/output modules belong to the YenGear Serial I/O Modules family. Each module provides 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 analog inputs and the same number of analog outputs for acquisition and control.

Input and output channels are separate. The RS485 and CAN options provide communication isolation; channel-to-channel isolation is not specified for these models.

2. Ordering Information

2.1 Model Configuration

The four positions after Y331- follow DI / DO / AI / AO. Retain all four positions. Combined models use Y331-00NN, where N is the count for each function, not the total I/O count.

2.2 Interface Options

InterfaceConfiguration
Isolated RS485Default; Modbus RTU
RS232Optional
Isolated CANOptional

Specify the interface with the model when ordering.

2.3 Input and Output Range Options

FunctionVoltage rangesCurrent ranges
Analog input0-5 V, 0-10 V0-20 mA, 4-20 mA
Analog output0-5 V, 0-10 V0-20 mA, 4-20 mA

State the input and output ranges when ordering. Availability of different AI/AO ranges or mixed channel ranges is unverified for these models.

3. Key Features

  • Differential analog inputs
  • Read analog inputs and write output setpoints
  • Power and communication indicators
  • Parameter reset button and hardware/software watchdogs

4. Technical Specifications

ProtectionOvercurrent, overvoltage, reverse polarity, and surge protection

4.2 Analog Input and Output

ParameterSpecification
Channel count1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 AI + the same number of AO
Input voltage ranges0-5 V, 0-10 V
Input current ranges0-20 mA, 4-20 mA
Input method / ADC resolutionDifferential / 12 bits
ADC sampling / data update rate200 kHz / 30 Hz per input channel
Input accuracy±0.1%; full-scale/reading basis and test conditions not specified
Voltage input impedanceNot established for this hardware
Milliamp input resistance249 Ω
Output voltage ranges0-5 V, 0-10 V
Output current ranges0-20 mA, 4-20 mA
Output setpoint increment1 mV or 1 µA in register encoding
Output accuracyNot established for this hardware
Output load limitsNot specified for voltage or current versions
Output setpoint retentionNot retained after power loss

The setpoint increment describes register encoding, not measured output resolution. Model-specific electrical data is needed for voltage input impedance, output accuracy, physical resolution, load limits, and startup output.

4.3 Communication

ParameterY331 (isolated RS485)
InterfaceIsolated RS485
Communication isolation voltage3000 V; test conditions not specified
ProtocolModbus RTU

RS485 communication settings are retained after power loss. See the technical manual for configuration procedures.

CAN bit rate, node addressing, and message format are not specified. RS232 serial settings and isolation are also unspecified; request the protocol information for the selected interface.

5. Interfaces and Pinout

5.1 Terminal Overview

GroupTerminals / Function
Power+ / -: supply positive / negative, 6-36 VDC
Analog inputAI+ / AI-: input positive / negative, per channel
Analog outputAO+ / AO-: output positive / negative, per channel
RS485A / B: bus positive / negative
RS232 / CANPin assignments not specified; use the interface-specific terminal drawing

5.2 Wiring Guidelines

  • Identify channels using the labels on the selected module.
  • Connect voltage inputs across the signal source and current inputs in series with the measured circuit.
  • Wire AO to a receiver that accepts the ordered output range. Obtain the output load limits before selecting the receiver.

See the Technical Manual for input jumper selection, RS485 wiring, and commissioning.
